南國無端客(남국무단객)

何因萬里遊(하인만리유)

夢廻長樂月(몽회장락월)

魂斷薊門秋(혼단계문추)

萍跡如蓬轉(평적여봉전)

鄕心似水流(향심사수류)

與君今更遠(여군금갱원)

搔首夕陽樓(소수석양루)

남국의 죄 없는 나그네가 어찌하여 이역만리에 와 있는가?

장락궁 달빛에 잠들지 못하고 계문에 가을이 드니 애끊는구나.

떠도는 나그네 신세 되어 고향 생각 물 흐르듯 끊이지 않네.

오늘 그대와 다시 멀어지면 석양루에 올라 머리 긁적이리.

The innocent traveler of the southern country

Why do you come to this far away strange country

I cannot fall asleep in the moonlight of Jangrak Palace

It is Autumn in the gate of Gyemoon, my heart is so deeply afflicted.

I am a wandering stranger

My hometown does not stop flowing in my heart.

If I get far away from you today

I will go up to the top of the sunset watchtower and scratch my hair.

제목 : 瀋中賜麟坪大君(심중사인평대군 : 심양에서 인평대군에게 주다)

작자 : 효종

해설 : 효종은 많은 시를 남겼다. 이 시는 왕이 되기 전, 청나라 심양에 볼모로 끌려가 있던 시절, 아우인 인평대군에게 써 준 시이다. ‘장락’은 중국 한나라 때 만든 궁궐 ‘장락궁’이고, ‘계문’은 지금의 북경 부근의 지명이다. ‘머리를 긁는다(搔首)’란 말은 ‘마음속에 번민이 많음’을 뜻하는데, 한시에서 널리 쓰였다. ≪시경(詩經)≫에 ‘소수주저(搔首踟躕 : 머리를 긁적이며 주저한다)’라는 구절이 나오며, 당나라 때 시인 두보(杜甫)의 <춘망(春望)>에는 ‘백두소갱단(白頭搔更短 : 흰 머리를 긁으니 또 머리카락이 짧아졌구나)’이란 구절이 나온다.

Author : The King Hyojong, the 17th King of Joseon Kingdom (1649~1659)

Commentary : The King Hyojong left many poems. This poem was written to his brother Inpyeong in the days when he was taken hostage in Shenyang, Qing Dynasty, before he became king. 'Jangrak' is a royal palace built during the Chinese Han Dynasty, and 'Gyemoon' is a place near Beijing. The word 'scratching my head' means that 'a lot of people are sick in the heart', and it was widely used in a Chinese poetry. In the Chinese poetry of ≪Sikyung, 詩經≫, there is a phrase of "a few hesitations," that is, Sosujujeo [搔首踟躕], scratching and hesitating in the head, and in the poem of Doobo's Chunmang [春望], there is 'Baekdosojangdan' [白頭搔更短] that means "I scratch my white hair and my hair is shorter."
